SIERRA CARES

The role of Sierra Cares is to offer practical help and support to Sierra community members who are going through a hardship.

NOMINATION FORM:

If you or someone you know in the Sierra community is going through a hard time, we are here to help and support you. Please fill out this nomination form with the details and we will reach out. Please know that you can fill this out anonymously if that is most comfortable to you. We understand the sensitivity around hard situations, and won’t share with the larger Sierra Cares group.

EXAMPLES OF WHEN SIERRA CARES HAS STEPPED IN TO HELP:

-A parent or student receives a major diagnosis 

-A student loses a parent

-A single-parent dealing with the loss of a child

-A caregiver was injured in an accident

-A mother or father might suddenly become a single-parent with the unexpected loss of a spouse

-A parent loses a job and the student’s day-to-day care is affected

WHILE WE HAVE OFFERED MANY FORMS OF HELP OVER THE YEARS, HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TAKEN UP ON:

-Meal trains

-Organized playdate

-Dog walking

-Driveway snow shoveling/Light yard work

-Art therapy bags for a child

-Craft gift box for a child who lost a parent

-Pickup and drop-off

-Highlighting GoFundMe page on the Sierra Cares webpage

JOIN THE SIERRA CARES COMMITTEE

We are always looking for parents in each grade who can keep an eye/ear out for families going through hardships. Those signed up on the committee will then be added to the email list and whenever a situation comes up where help is needed, the committee chair will email the group to coordinate help.
